Ramoowalia opposes renaming of college

Jalandhar: Joining the chorus against those raising their voice over changing the name of Dyal Singh (evening) College, Delhi, as Vande Mataram Mahavidyalaya, Rajya Sabha MP and SP leader Balwant Singh Ramoowalia on Tuesday said, “I understand that chanting Vande Mataram is a 1000-year-old tradition of India and symbolises supreme ideology, but it is not wise to tamper with the name of Dyal Singh College.

Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia is revered for the three big institutions that he created. Just one of them is named after him and by renaming that too, we will be playing with the feelings of those who remember him as a great philanthropist.” TNS
