A bunch of robbers killed a retired BSF Commandant and injured his wife after they broke into the couple’s house at Dasuya town in Hoshiarpur district, police said on Friday.

The robbers took away his licensed gun and valuables after killing the 75-year-old Narinder Singh.

“About 3-4 people entered the house located at a remote stretch. They first injured Singh by hitting him with a rod. They also injured his wife,” SSP Kuldeep Singh said.

“They hit him with the rod and ransacked the house before escaping with valuables. Later, his injured wife managed to walk out some distance and informed people living near their house. The police were subsequently informed,” he said.

The SSP said the couple’s son lived abroad while their daughters also lived elsewhere.

“We have registered a case and are hopeful to crack the case soon,” the police officer added. PTI
