Rs 14 lakh cash stolen from bank in Bathinda

BATHINDA: Two persons allegedly broke into a branch of cooperative bank at village Teona here and decamped with Rs 14.51 lakh in cash, police said on Friday.

Two persons allegedly broke into a branch of cooperative bank at village Teona here and decamped with Rs 14.51 lakh in cash, police said on Friday.

Around midnight last night, two unidentified persons, with their faces covered and wearing caps, broke into the branch by cutting window grills, police said.

The entire incident was recorded by the CCTV cameras installed in the branch.

The duo decamped with Rs 14.51 lakh of cash after breaking the locker with a cutter, police said.

The theft was noticed this morning when bank employees came to the office and informed the police.

A case has been registered, police said, adding that CCTV footage was being examined to identify accused. — PTI
