Chandigarh, February 4

Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO today said that two clerks had been suspended and department disciplinary action had been initiated against an assistant revenue accountant for allegedly committing financial irregularities totalling Rs 2.74 lakh.

The minister said that the two clerks and the revenue accountant posted at the sub-divisional office, Samrala urban, caused financial loss to the PSPCL by issuing bills with wrong reading to consumers after reversing the receipts of the bills submitted by them. He said that the PSPCL had taken prompt action and got the due amount deposited from the employees involved in this scam.

Both clerks have been suspended immediately under Regulation 4(1) of the PSPCL Employees Punishment and Appeals Regulations, 1971. He said that the office of the Additional Superintending Engineer Operation, Anandpur Sahib, has been fixed as their headquarters during the suspension period. He said department disciplinary action was being taken against the assistant revenue accountant also.
