Patiala, November 14

Shiromani Akali Dal MPs on Tuesday decided to boycott the meeting called by Capt Amarinder Singh as they had been informed that the CM would not be able to attend the meeting.

Senior Congress leader and cabinet minister Brahm Mahindra will now preside over the meeting.

Anandpur Sahib MP Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra said it was against the stature of MPs and that the CM had ignored the protocol. He said the issues of Punjab could not be addressed by Brahm Mohindra, who held just two departments. He said they were to question the CM on various issues.

He also appealed to the Congress and AAP MPs to boycott the meeting claiming that it was an insult to the MPs.

Chandumajra said it was condemnable that the CM was taking the formal meeting of MPs lightly.

He said it was a proxy government in Punjab as Capt Amarinder Singh was not taking interest in Punjab and its affairs.

AAP MP Bhagwant Mann said he would also boycott the meeting.
