Amritsar, November 28
The SAD today removed Youth Akali Dal’s Majha president Inderbir Singh Bolaria in what the party called a routine reshuffle. Bolaria had been at loggerheads with the Akali-led government over the setting up of a solid waste management plant at Bhagtanwala.
Talking to the media here, Bolaria said he had no remorse for being removed from the party post. He said he had earned the wrath of the Akali leadership since he had opposed the party’s decisions.
Ravikaran Singh Kahlon, son of former Vidhan Sabha Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon, has replaced Bolaria.
Bolaria had protested against his own government’s move to set up a solid waste management plant at Bhagtanwala dump, which falls in his Amritsar South Assembly segment. The residents of the localities around the dump are still agitating to convince the authorities not to set up the plant there. He had even staged dharnas along with local residents.
Bolaria alleged he was not taken into confidence while deciding the site for the solid waste management plant which, he said, would have harmful effects on the health of the people living in the vicinity. He alleged the work on raising the boundary wall around the yard could not take off even after the Deputy CM ordering the same.
