The Sangrur BJP has expelled the district president of the Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and district incharge of the BJP SC morcha, alleging that both were involved in anti-party activities. “BJYM district president Amandeep Singh and BJP SC Morcha district incharge Nirbhai Singh have been expelled for their anti-party activities,” said Capt Ram Singh, BJP Sangrur president after a meeting here on Wednesday. He said Deepak Jain was appointed as district BJYM president. The expelled leaders said they never acted against the party. “I have resigned due to anti-Dalit activities of the BJP,” said Amandeep Singh. Nirbhai Singh alleged that he participated against the dilution of the SC/ST Act and did nothing more.

Chandigarh: Apna Punjab Party district president Dr Jagtar Singh Chandi from Shahkot on Wednesday joined the Congress in the presence of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. Welcoming Dr Chandi and his eight supporters, Capt Amarinder said it was a sign of growing confidence of people in the Congress government’s policies and programmes.
