Bathinda, September 29
Security has been beefed up in and around important and sensitive installations in Bathinda and surrounding areas in the wake of increase tension along the Indo-Pak border. These include the oil refinery, airport, Bathinda and Lehra Mohabbat thermal power plants and the NFL plant. On the other hand, the Army authorities have tightened security in and around the Bathinda cantonment.
The police, sources said, were also taking the help of the Army to ensure the security of all sensitive and strategically important buildings and installations.
All police personnel, including those on leave, have been told to report on duty.
Meanwhile the administration officials are trying their best to get the border villages evacuated, but they are facing resistance from residents at most places. People feel that it was very difficult for them to migrate for the fear of loss to their movable and immovable property.
To ward off their apprehensions and to create a sense of security among them, the police have deputed patrol teams in every village to be evacuated.
