Seven booked for farmer’s murder
Sangrur: A farmer was found murdered at Bopur village in the district today. Khanauri SHO Sukhchain Singh said Surjit Singh was going to his fields in the wee hours when his relatives, with whom he had a dispute over sharing water for irrigation, allegedly waylaid him and hanged him from a tree. The police registered a case under Sections 302, 120-B and 506 of the IPC against Pritam Singh, Zora Singh, Ishwar Singh and four other relatives of the deceased. “We are conducting raids to arrest the accused,” the SHO said. tns
