Chandigarh, June 24
Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu today set June 27 as deadline for the municipal authorities across the state to take action against cable network operators functioning sans approval and without paying the requisite charges.
Sidhu said the action taken report against such operators must be submitted to the Local Bodies Department by June 27.
The minister directed the municipal authorities across the state to submit documents pertaining to cable operators legally running their operations. “If operators have obtained the permission, send an application by the operator along with a copy of permission granted and proof of charges paid by June 27,” Sidhu said in a statement.
The orders came a day after Sidhu told the Vidhan Sabha about a major scam involving cable operations in the state. He said anybody intending to use municipal property was required to take permission and pay fee.
Sidhu said the department had witnessed major losses during the previous SAD-BJP government as cable operators laid underground cable wires without seeking permission and paying fee.
