Man crushed under bus belonging to SAD leader

MUKTSAR: A 27-year-old Dalit man was crushed under a New Deep Transport Company bus on the Gidderbaha-Muktsar road at Kauni village in Gidderbaha Assembly segment this evening. The bus driver fled the spot after the accident.

A 27-year-old Dalit man was crushed under a New Deep Transport Company bus on the Gidderbaha-Muktsar road at Kauni village in Gidderbaha Assembly segment this evening. The bus driver fled the spot after the accident.

The transport company is co-owned by SAD’s Gidderbaha constituency in charge-cum-chairman, District Planning Committee, Hardeep Singh ‘Dimpy’ Dhillon.

Deceased Sukhbir Singh was reportedly standing along the road, when the bus hit him from behind, killing him on the spot. The bus was on its way from Gidderbaha to Faridkot. The deceased was going to Assa Buttar village to meet his relatives.

A large number of people immediately gathered at the spot after the mishap.

Meanwhile, a police party from Kotbhai police station reached the spot and and took the body to the Civil Hospital Gidderbaha for post-mortem.

On December 11, another bus of the same company had killed a 12-year-old Dalit girl at Channu village in Lambi. Thereafter, on December 17, a 10-year-old Dalit girl was killed in an accident involving a bus of the same company in Ferozepur district.

Kuldeep Chahal, SSP, Muktsar, said, “A case has been registered in this regard against the bus driver.”
