Farmers end five-day dharna

Sangrur: Hundreds of farmers, who had been staging a dharna outside the district administrative complex here under the banner of the BKU (Ugrahan) since May 24, ended their dharna today.

Hundreds of farmers, who had been staging a dharna outside the district administrative complex here under the banner of the BKU (Ugrahan) since May 24, ended their dharna today.

However, they announced that their dharna at Bathinda would continue till the acceptance of their demands.

The dharna was organised here in support of their demands, including debt waiver for farmers, Rs 5 lakh and a job to the family of every debt-ridden farmer who commits suicide and jobs for the unemployed rural youth.
