Amritsar, June 20
Refusing to acknowledge the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’-appointed parallel ‘Jathedars’, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said: “There are norms and tenets to appoint the Akal Takht Jathedar.”
Sukhbir, along with his wife and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, today paid obeisance at the Golden Temple.
On June 17, the parallel ‘Jathedars’ had passed the “gurmata” (decree) and summoned the Deputy CM on July 20 asking him to submit the action-taken report on the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
On the controversy surrounding Bollywood film “Udta Punjab”, Sukhbir said some filmmakers wanted to earn money even at the cost of defaming others.
Meanwhile, Sukhbir said a world-class entry plaza would soon be constructed near Durgiana Mandir here. He said the state government was working on the masterplan of the plaza. The Deputy CM also paid obeisance at the temple.
