Ahead of the poll code, Agriculture Minister Tota Singh today laid the foundation stones of at least eight rural development works.

At Umriana, Balkhandi, Manawa, Longiwind, Talwandi Nau Bahar, Masitan and Nasirpur villages, the minister laid the foundation stones of roads, streets, sanitation projects and other works.

He held public meetings in more than 10 villages and listened to the problems of the locals. He promised the people to widen the Moga-Makhu highway, a long pending demand of the area residents.

At Longiwind village, Tota Singh claimed that he had managed to get the maximum chunk of funds from the state budget for his segment than any other political leader of the state.

The septuagenarian leader also claimed to have got constructed two hospitals at Dharamkot and Kot-ise-Khan towns, a mini-secretariat at Dharamkot, a government college at Karial village; besides upgrading many schools and setting-up new power grids in the area.
