Two Akalis, agent held for property fraud in Abohar

ABOHAR:Two leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal in Abohar and one of their associates in property business have been arrested in connection with a fraud case that was registered at the Khuyiansarwer police station under Sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the IPC.

Two leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal in Abohar and one of their associates in property business have been arrested in connection with a fraud case that was registered at the Khuyiansarwer police station under Sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the IPC. 

Varinder Singh Hayer, alias Kala Chakda, a member of the Abohar Panchayat Samiti, Bahawalbasi village sarpanch Harcharan Singh alias Charna and property agent Prem Pal Mahal of Alamgarh village were produced in a court here on Saturday. The court allowed two-day custodial interrogation. 

The trio will be produced again on Monday. Their names had come to fore in many property deals in the past five or six years. Jasmine Kaur Jakhar of Killianwali village had alleged that Kaka, Charna, Daljit Singh, owner of LC Restaurant and Bar, his wife Kulwinder Kaur, broker Prem Pal and an unidentified woman had duped her of Rs 68 lakh after brokering an agreement regarding the sale of a 23-acre prime agricultural land in Raipur village here.
