The UK has promised to help set up a Centre for Excellence in Clean Cold Chain in Punjab, besides assisting the state in promoting dairying through providing sexed semen for cattle.

The possibilities of collaboration between the UK and the state government were discussed during a meeting of the British High Commissioner to India Sir Dominic Asquith and a three-member delegation of the state government led by state Finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal. Discussions on how the UK can help the state in its agriculture diversification plan and in skill development were also held.

Later, Asquith called upon CM Capt Amarinder Singh, who sought the British envoys’ support for his government’s efforts towards conservation of the fast depleting water table in the state.
