Undertrial attacks cop in hospital

Hoshiarpur, June 25

An undertrial allegedly assaulted a head constable at the Civil Hospital here today.

Sukhvinder Singh, booked in an attempt to murder case, was brought to the hospital by the police for a check-up. He had a scuffle with Head Constable Kewal Krishan, whom he hit on the head with handcuffs before other policemen overpowered him. Sukhvinder’s wrist was injured in the melee.

Sukhvinder alleged that he was beaten up by the police during the interrogation. Kewal Krishan claimed that the undertrial’s injury was self-inflicted.

Gopal Singh, SHO, Model Town police, reached the spot and began an investigation.
