Irked over the adjournment of their case, a woman allegedly threw a file towards a judicial officer at a Sunam court yesterday. She and her father also reportedly misbehaved with the court staff.

Both were later arrested on a complaint by the judge. As per the FIR registered at Sunam city police station, Gagandeep Kaur from Mehla village has been contesting a case of matrimonial dispute. On Tuesday, the Judicial Magistrate adjourned her case to December 14 due to lawyers’ strike.

As per the complaint, Gagandeep and her father Balwinder Singh first started arguing with copyist Navita. When the judge asked them to maintain court decorum, Balwinder started shouting at the court. The judge then asked them to call their counsel or his proxy, but none appeared due to a strike.

Upset over the matter, Gagandeep picked up a court file and allegedly hurled it towards the judge. The judicial officer’s guard intervened and called the police.

Bharpur Singh, SHO, said: “We have registered a case against Balwinder Singh and his daughter under Sections 353, 186, 228, 34 IPC and arrested them.”
