Gidderbaha, December 12

Indian Youth Congress and Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and his four gunmen were today booked on the charges of assaulting an AAP activist at Guri Sanghar village on Saturday evening.

A case under Sections 341, 323 and 34 of the IPC has been registered, confirmed Baljit Singh, SHO, Kotbhai police station, while speaking over the phone. “Warring and his four unnamed gunmen have been booked. We are investigating the matter,” he said.

In his complaint, AAP activist Surinderpal Singh alleged: “Warring and his gunmen assaulted me outside my residence on Saturday evening after the MLA distributed blankets in the village. I had questioned them over covering AAP posters with theirs. They misbehaved with my mother and hit her with sticks.”

The police have also booked Surinderpal and four others on the basis of a cross-complaint lodged by Mandeep Singh, a Youth Congress activist from Guru Harsahai. Mandeep alleged that five youngsters had damaged his Toyota Fortuner vehicle and looted Rs 50,000 at Guri Sanghar village. A case has been registered against Surinderpal, Amana Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Amana Singh and Bogha Singh under Sections 341, 323, 427, 148 and 149 of the IPC.

Speaking over the phone from Delhi, Warring refuted the allegations. He said: “They are trying to implicate me in a false case to get publicity. Why will I thrash anyone and that too just close to the elections? They had come to my blanket distribution event and asked me about their candidate’s poster. I tried to show them some pictures of our posters covered with AAP posters, but they started videographing the scene. Then I opted to move to another village.”
