Bassi Pathana, December 12

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday once again raked up the issue of giving Chandigarh to Punjab as the state’s capital.

Badal, who was at Bassi Pathana at a Sangat Darshan programme, said the Congress had caused considerable damage on the issue of making Chandigarh as the state’s capital and the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal.

He said that they would continue to stake its claim over Punjabi speaking areas, Chandigarh and the river waters.

Commenting on the statement of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that the SAD and the Congress were playing a friendly match, Badal said ‘Aag te paani da koi mel nahi ho sakda’ (Fire and water can not come together).

When questioned that from where Sukhbir Singh Badal would contest the elections, Badal said it was for the party president (Sukhbir) to decide.

Badal urged the people to judge the development work undertaken by the SAD-BJP government during the past 10 years and vote according to their conscience.
