Woman dies in scuffle over garbage dump

Muktsar, March 6

A dispute over the disposal of garbage reportedly claimed the life of a 60-year-old woman, Chhinder Kaur, at Tharajwala village in Lambi segment here today.

Acting on the statement of victim’s son Kaka Singh, the police have booked Jaskaran Singh of the village on the charge of murder.

Sources said Chhinder’s husband Harnek Singh had made a toilet on the village common land. But Jaskaran Singh had started throwing garbage there.

It led to a clash between Harnek and Jaskaran last evening. During the scuffle, Harnek allegedly pushed Chhinder Kaur away, leading to her suffering a cardiac arrest. She was taken to the civil hospital at Malout where she died. — TNS
