Sanskrit has the ability to assist in speech therapy, stated Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi at a Sanskrit competition organised by the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy, Haridwar, at Kanya Gurukul Mahavidyalaya on the Rajpur road here today.

Joshi said even NASA, the premier space research agency of the USA, had accepted that Sanskrit is the clearest language of the world.

He said, “Sanskrit is the only language that has more words than any other language in the world and contains a treasure trove of most words in the world. There are around 100 words available for elephant in Sanskrit language. The NASA has accepted the fact that Sanskrit is the best language for computers.”

“Scientists believe that Sanskrit is fruitful in speech therapy, besides helping in mathematics and science and also improves concentration. The alphabets used in the language are scientific and their correct pronunciation improves the tone of speech. It encourages imagination and improves memory retention too,” added  Joshi.

He said the language was being taught in 17 universities around the globe, which reveals its popularity.

Joshi wished the students a bright future and gave away citations and awards to the winning students. Santosh Vidyalankar, SP Khali and Dr Chandi Prasad Ghildyal presided over the function.
