From District Mabendergarh for the House of People seat Ch Heera Singh Chunaria (Congress) will be opposed by Kaka Bhagwant Rai. another sitting MP of PEPSU Pratap Singh and Pt. Banieshwar Dutt who were refused Congress ticket have also not withdrawn from that constituency.

As was expected the withdrawals have been rather very few.  For the State Legislature, the nomination papers of Bibi Amar Kaur, sister of the Martyr S. Bhagat Singh from Dhilliwan constituency have, it is learnt, been rejected by the Returning Officer. Kapurthala, Sant Pratap Singh.

All most all the big landlords of the State who sought Akali ticket have it is learnt been accommodated in one way or the other. In the fresh list of Akali nominees from PEPSU announced by Master Tara Singh only yesterday the Akali tickets already given have been withdrawn and some of the seats have been either left vacant or the tickets have been given to the other persons.

Two Assembly seats namely Amloh-Payal and Malerkotla have been left vacant as they will be contested by S. Gian Singb Rarewala a former Chief Minister and the Nawab of Malerkotla, respectively. S. Gurdial Singh Dhillon former IGP, Patiala, who was previously refused Akali ticket has been given the Akali ticket from Senha-Phul constituency of the Barnala District So far the list of 40 Akali candidates has been announced.

District Patiala: S. Gian Singh Rarewala has withdrawn from Patiala City Constituency, where former minister Shree Lachman Dass (Congress) will be opposed by 9 other candidates — Mr. Dalip Chand Advocate (Jan Sangh). S Jaswant Sigh Dugga1 (Akali) and the rest independents.

Out of 103 valid nominations for nine constituencies including one reserve for the State Legislative Assembly and one seat for the House of People from District Patiala as many as 72 candidates are contesting elections, 31 candidates withdrew their nomination papers.

A straight and tough contest is envisaged between the two prominent contestants S. Dara Singh (Akail) and General Shiv Dev Singh, former Prime Minister, erstwhile Nabha State, who has been refused Akali ticket.

Another straight fight is likely to be between S. Harchand 193 Deputy Minister Back word Classes and Prof. Ajaib Singh, an Akali candidate, from banur reserved constituency.
