Kuala Lumpur, October 27

Aditi Ashok made a fine start which she frittered away on the second nine at the Sime Darby LPGA golf tournament here today.

Aditi carded an even-par 71 in the first round and is lying tied 30th alongside world No. 1 Lydia Ko of New Zealand in the $2 million event.

Aditi started her round with a birdie but gave it away on the third. Back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth saw her turn in one-under. However, she dropped a shot on the 11th and then double-bogeyed the par-4 13th, while failing to birdie either of the two par-5s on the back nine.

Meanwhile, a bogey-free round saw Amy Yang card an 8-under 63 to finish on top of the leaderboard after the first round. The South Korean, who is yet to register a win on the LPGA Tour this year, is two strokes ahead of Marina Alex. — PTI
