Amritraj brothers upset with Chennai Open shift

Shifting of India's only ATP event from Chennai to Pune has disappointed the Amritraj brothers, Vijay and Anand, who played a key role in bringing the event to the city. The former Davis Cuppers, who hailed from Chennai, had worked hard to bring the tournament here in 1997 as the Gold Flake Open ATP tournament, generating great fan following. “The tournament has run for 21 years, which is a very long run. It is sad that Chennai has lost the event. However, it is good that it will remain in India,” said Vijay.

Clijsters, Roddick to be inducted into Hall of Fame 

Kim Clijsters and Andy Roddick are among five players set to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame this Saturday. Besides Clijsters and Roddick, four-time Paralympics wheelchair tennis medallist Monique Kalkman-van den Bosch, tennis historian and journalist Steve Flink and late tennis instructor Vic Braden will also be inducted.

Abhay in quarterfinals of junior world squash

India's Abhay Singh made the quarterfinals of the junior WSF-World Squash Championship here today. Abhay secured a battling 3-1 win over Egyptian Mohamed Elshamy in the fourth round.
