Berlin:Former world champion Viswanathan Anand ended the World Rapid Championship on a positive note, scoring four points out of five games on the final day.



Berlin: Former world champion Viswanathan Anand ended the World Rapid Championship on a positive note, scoring four points out of five games on the final day. But the Indian ace could only finish 25th after tying for the 13th spot in the final standings. The three-day event concluded with Magnus Carlsen retaining the title. The Norwegian was at his best and was in trouble in just one of the 15 games that he played. Tallying 11.5 points with eight wins and seven draws, Carlsen finished a point clear of Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia, Teimour Radjabov of Azerbaijan and Leinier Dominguez of Cuba. Anand scored 9.5 points in all.

Defending champions Atletico de Kolkata registered their second win in the Indian Super League by defeating 10-man Kerala Blasters 2-1 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday. India continue fine run at Commonwealth weightlifting

India continued their fine show at the 2015 Commonwealth Youth, Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championships on the second day of the competition. In 69 kg category, Lalu Taku (Youth boys) won the gold medal with a total lift of 282kg. He picked up 125kg in snatch and 157kg in clean and jerk. Nungshiton Devi clinched the gold in both 58 kg junior women and 58 kg Youth girls categories after lifting 72 kg in snatch and 85 kg in clean and jerk for an overall effort of 157 kg. In 58 kg, Minati Sethi (Senior women) settled for the bronze medal with a total lift of 194 kg (84+110).
