India endured a medal-less day at the Youth Olympics on Thursday after the gold rush in the last three days as the women’s hockey team lost to Argentina and rising table tennis player Archana Kamath lost her bronze-medal match.
Kamath gave her all against Romania’s Andreea Dragoman before losing 11-8 11-13 9-11 5-11 9-11 in the semifinal.
The Indian boys and girls teams entered the quarterfinals of the tournament. The Indian girls defeated South Africa 5-2 to finish second in Pool A. Mumtaz Khan (2, 17 mins), Reet (10 min), Lalremsiami (12 min) and Ishika Chaudhary (13 min) scored for India. The boys team beat Canada 5-2. Sanjay (4, 17 mins), Shivam Anand (7 min), Sudeep Chirmako (10 min) and Rahul Kumar Rajbhar (17 min) scored in the win. — PTI
