Aditi first Indian to qualify for LPGA Tour Championship

Naples (Florida): Aditi Ashok has qualified for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship on the LPGA, becoming the first from the country to play in the prestigious meet.



Naples (Florida): Aditi Ashok has qualified for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship on the LPGA, becoming the first from the country to play in the prestigious meet. The 19-year-old prodigy is one of the eight rookies to make it to the Tour Championship in what is one of the strongest fields in women’s golf. Meanwhile, Aditi has succeeded in keeping her LPGA card for 2018 after a sterling rookie season. Aditi played 20 events on the LPGA and made cut in 13 with tied 8th at the Marathon Classic her best result.

Asian Cup Qualifier: India hold Myanmar to 2-2 draw  

India played out a 2-2 draw against Myanmar in the return-leg match of the AFC Asian Cup qualifying Group A match here today. The home side came back twice in the match to hold the visiting side and continue their unbeaten streak in 13 matches. Myanmar scored through Yan Naing Oo (1st minute) and Kyaw Ko Ko (19th), while Sunil Chhetri (12th; penalty) and Jeje Lalpekhlua (69th) found the target for India. India had beaten Myanmar 1-0 in the first leg in Yangon through a Chhetri winner. With today's draw, India are on the top of the group with 13 points from five matches. Myanmar are placed second with five points from four matches.

AIFF to field Indian Arrows in I-League, starts on Nov 25

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has named its development side Indian Arrows, going back to the old moniker it used for its previous youth team that was disbanded in 2013. AIFF mentioned the side as Indian Arrows in the I-League fixtures issued today. The upcoming I-League will kick off with Minerva FC hosting Mohun Bagan in Ludhiana on November 25. A bit of focus will be on the side that will comprise the best talent from the team that competed in the FIFA U-17 World Cup and the Under-19 team. The development side will have its home ground in New Delhi. The idea is to keep the boys together to make the cut for U-20 World Cup in 2019, for which India has submitted a bid application.
