Raipur, December 1

India will face Britain in the quarterfinals on Thursday after the British drew 3-3 with Belgium to top Pool A in the Hockey World League (HWL) Final here today.

In what can be judged as the best match of the tournament, Britain and Belgium fought tooth and nail to get the better of each other. But in the end the draw was a just result as there was hardly anything to separate the two sides.

In the quarters tomorrow, Netherlands will face Canada, while world champions Australia will take on Olympics champions Germany. India will play Britain while Belgium will be up against Argentina on Thursday.

The match between Britain and Belgium was neck and neck as both the teams played at tremendous pace.

In the first match of the day, Canadian goalkeeper David Carter produced a man of the match performance but it was not enough to stop Australia from scoring a 6-0 victory. The Kookaburras were at their brilliant best in the first quarter, taking a 4-0 lead thanks to goals from Daniel Beale, Jeremy Hayward, Dylan Wotherspoon and Matthew Dawson. — Agencies
