Chandigarh play out draw with Maharashtra, in semis

CHANDIGARH:Chandigarh boys came from behind to hold Maharashtra to a 2-2 draw and earn a place in the semifinals in the ongoing Dr BC Roy Junior National Football Championship in Una.

Chandigarh boys came from behind to hold Maharashtra to a 2-2 draw and earn a place in the semifinals in the ongoing Dr BC Roy Junior National Football Championship in Una.

Abel Fernandez scored from the spot to put Maharashtra ahead in the 40th after a Chandigarh defender handed the ball in the penalty area. Chandigarh leveled the scores through Muhammed Ajaruddin Shah in the 59th minute, but were once again left to do the chasing after Maharashtra doubled their tally in the 66th minute.

Chandigarh did not lose hope and kept their spirits high to finally level the score in the injury time. The side will face J&K in the semifinals on Sunday. In the other semifinal, Jharkhand will face Arunachal Pradesh.

In another match of the day, Bihar played out a goalless draw with Andhra Pradesh.
