Yuki Bhambri went down fighting while Ramkumar Ramanathan suffered a tame defeat as the two Indians bowed out of the French Open Qualifiers here today. Up against Canada's 25th seed and world No. 132 Peter Polansky, Bhambri lost the first-round match 6-7(7) 6-7 (5). Ramanathan lost to Argentina's world No. 1 114 and 13th seed Guido Pella 2-6 1-6 in a lop-sided first round encounter.
The defeat of both Bhambri and Ramanathan means that no Indian will compete in the singles main draw of a Grand Slam event.
India spank Bangladesh in SABA championship
Male: Defending champions India routed Bangladesh 142-71 for their third straight win at the fifth South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Championship here today.
India dominated the contest from the beginning, outscoring Bangladesh 36-9 in the very first quarter. India centre Amritpal Singh sunk in 22 points while veteran Vishesh Bhriguvanshi chipped in with 14 points.
