Haryana govt requests CoA to appoint supervisory panel

NEW DELHI:The Haryana Government has requested the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to appoint a “supervisory committee” to run cricket in the state, reacting to reports that the Haryana Cricket Association (HCA) is yet to comply with the Lodha Panel reforms.

New Delhi, September 30

The Haryana Government has requested the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to appoint a “supervisory committee” to run cricket in the state, reacting to reports that the Haryana Cricket Association (HCA) is yet to comply with the Lodha Panel reforms. “The government requests the BCCI to appoint a supervisory committee for ensuring steps that would enable participation by Haryana players in the Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments,” a letter to CoA from the principal secretary in the state’s Sports Ministry stated.

A top official of the HCA rejected the claims, saying that the association has already amended its constitution and that the unit is “fully compliant”. A few people in the state cricket fraternity saw the move as a deliberate attempt to stall reforms in Haryana cricket, claiming that the constitution is fully compliant. “The constitution is fully compliant. If there is any attempt to appoint a supervisory committee, it will be appropriately dealt with in the court of law as it is contempt of court,” a senior BCCI functionary said. — PTI
