Mayank Agarwal’s dream run in domestic cricket continued as his power-packed 140 off only 111 balls helped Karnataka to a crushing 103-run victory over Hyderabad in the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy here today. Along with Ravikumar Samarth (125 off 124 balls), Mayank added 242 runs for the second wicket as Karnataka piled up a huge 347/8 in 50 overs and then bowled out Hyderabad for 244 in 42.5 overs with Shreyas Gopal picking up ‘5/ 31. In the other quarterfinal, Maharashtra stunned Mumbai by seven wickets. 

Brief scores: Karnataka 347/8 (Mayank Agarwal 140, Ravikumar Samarth 125; Mohammed Siraj 5/59); Hyderabad: 244 in 42.5 overs (Ambati Rayudu 64; Shreyas Gopal 5/31).

BFI won’t field boxers in four weight categories at CWG     

India will not field male boxers in the 64kg and 81kg categories, along with a couple weight categories in the women’s section, in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The categories dropped in the women’s section include 57kg and 75kg.  According to a source, the Boxing Federation of India took the decision owing to low medal prospects in these categories.

Krishan (75kg) defeated Morocco’s Amer Gnifid to make the last-eight stage. Phangal (49kg) won his bout by hammering Mauritian Sharvin Kumar.
