Kolkata, November 2

“Just three seconds” is all what it took Sourav Ganguly to convince India captain Virat Kohli into playing a Day/Night Test match against Bangladesh, the BCCI president revealed. “Honestly I don't know why and what was the reason they did not want to play the D/N Test in Adelaide,” Ganguly said about India’s refusal to play a D/N Test on their 2018-19 tour of Australia.

“I met him for an hour and my first question to him was, we need to have Day/Night Tests, and the answer in three seconds was let's go ahead and do that,” Ganguly said about the meeting with Kohli ahead of the selection committee meeting in Mumbai on October 24.

“I know in T20 every stand is full in every game. But the proper management of Test cricket will bring the crowd back. It's a start for India. I think with this concept Test cricket will be back on its feet. Now people's lives have changed, you cannot leave offices, so that's when you have to make adaptability. A lot of time, we hold on to things thinking what you believe is right,” Ganguly added. — PTI
