Barcelona star striker Lionel Messi has no personal battle with his long-time Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo in a race to be considered the best in history.
Despite picking up nine La Liga titles, four Champions League crowns, five Ballons d’Or awards and scoring 552 goals for Barcelona, Messi insisted that he had never been driven by the pursuit of individual honours. “I’m not interested in being the best in history,” Messi said. “I always want to improve myself and I do not compete with anyone because I do not play to be the best in history but to improve myself year after year.” — ANI
