Punjab lost to Jharkhand by four wickets in the Super League stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 cricket tournament here today. It was Punjab's first loss in the tournament. Batting first, Punjab posted a fighting total of 149/7, thanks to Mandeep Singh's 48 and Abhishek Gupta's 31*.
In reply, wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan (54 off 29) gave Jharkhand a good start but wickets kept falling around him. Saurabh Tiwary (24 off 22), however, used his experience to keep the scoreboard moving, and eventually saw his team home.
In Group A, Rajasthan are on top of the table with eight points from two matches, followed by Punjab. In their second match today, Rajasthan stunned Karnataka. — IANS
