The Haryana girls bounced back from their loss on the first day with a convincing win over West Bengal in the 66th Junior National Basketball Championship at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Meanwhile, the Punjab teams had started their campaign with easy wins on Friday evening.

In a high-scoring contest, Haryana beat West Bengal 91-76, with Bharti scoring 33 points for the winners. West Bengal’s Paulami was the top-scorer with 38 points.

The Punjab boys, who are the defending champions, beat Rajasthan 85-68, while the girls beat Delhi 56-24 in the final two contests of Day 1.

For the Punjab boys’ team, India camper Rahul and Ajit scored 23 and 22 points, respectively, while Mahipal Singh scored 31 points for Rajasthan.

The Chhattisgarh girls started their bid to defend their title with a 81-45 thrashing of Madhya Pradesh.
