The Supreme Court on Tuesday told the central government and state cricket associations to submit their list of possible candidates for administrators of Board of Control for Cricket in India.

A three-judge Bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra said the names would be considered along with those already submitted by amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium.

The central government was representing Railways and Armed forces, who are also members of the BCCI.

The Bench also allowed the BCCI to suggest possible its nominees to ICC Executive Committee’s meeting that will be held in the first week of February. The names have to be submitted in a sealed envelope.

Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi told the court the central government was considering a law for sports bodies.

Senior counsel Kapil Sibal, who represented state cricket associations, said there were several gaps in the court’s original order, which he claimed went against verdicts of several Constitution Benches.

The Bench said: "If you convince us that the order is against Constitution bench verdicts, we are ready to rectify it."

The Supreme Court is currently hearing a case regarding reforms suggested to BCCI’s administrative functioning.
