New Delhi, January 20
The Supreme Court on Friday allowed administrators who have previously held offices in the state cricket bodies and the Board of Control for Cricket in India for a total of nine years to hold positions in the board.
“Tenure of an office bearer in state association or BCCI shall not be considered cumulatively,” the court said, modifying its previous order that barred such people from being elected to the board.
The court’s clarification came after amicus curiae submitted nine names for the position of administrators in the BCCI.
The court said it would appoint administrators for the board from list submitted by the amicus curiae Anil Divan and Gopal Subramaniam on January 24.
The court also agreed to hear pleas of Railways, services and universities against downgrading of their status from full members to associate members of the board. — TNS/ PTI
