Opening batsman Surya Kumar Yadav struck a belligerent double ton to help Mumbai CA Colts post 457/5 against Assam in Round Three of the Buchi Babu Invitational cricket tournament.
Hitting a 209-ball 243, laced with 18 fours and 14 sixes, Surya Kumar flattened the Assam bowling in the stipulated 90 overs. He put on 259 runs for the third wicket in 56.2 overs with Mangela (91) and then added another 127 runs with Nikhil Patel (56) for the fourth-wicket in only 18.2 overs.
In another match, opener D Nishal made a strokeful 144 to help Karnataka post 398 for six against Baroda. Nishal and Negi added 118 runs for the first wicket in 31.2 overs to give the team a solid start. Mir Kunian Abbas also contributed with a valuable 86.
Haryana on back foot
Haryana faltered in their game against Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) President's XI after getting bowled out for 242 in 76.1 overs. Guntash Veer Singh top-scored with 84 runs as medium-pacer L Vignesh returned with the figures of 6-41. In reply, TNCA President's XI were 22/1 in 11 overs. Suryap Prakash (9) and Sushil U (1) were at the crease.
In a truncated game, TNCA Districts XI were 137/4 in 45 overs against Andhra Pradesh at stumps. The Bengal-Gujarat match also started late due to overnight rain as it was reduced to a 67-overs-a-side affair. Batting first, Bengal made 97 for one in 30 overs. — PTI
