Amritsar academy inflict 11-0 shocker on Patna team

CHANDIGARH: The MRS Hockey Academy, Amritsar, stunned Sai Hockey Academy, Patna, by 11-0 score while DAV School, Shahabad, played a 2-2 draw against MDN School, Rohtak, during the ongoing 14th ONGC SN Vohra Memorial Sub-junior (U-14) Hockey Tournament at the international hockey stadium in Mohali today.

The MRS Hockey Academy, Amritsar, stunned Sai Hockey Academy, Patna, by 11-0 score while DAV School, Shahabad, played a 2-2 draw against MDN School, Rohtak, during the ongoing 14th ONGC SN Vohra Memorial Sub-junior (U-14) Hockey Tournament at the international hockey stadium in Mohali today.

In the first evenly poised tie, the DAV, Shahabad, bounced back to score a draw against MDN School, Rohtak. The latter started off well and scored the lead through Aryan in the 13th minute of the game. Just before the lemon break, Amit doubled the lead through a field goal in the 34th minute. However, the side failed to maintain the momentum in the second half of the game.

In the second match, Araijeet Singh of MRS Hockey Academy, Amritsar, flicked the ball to hit the wooden plank in the 7th minute of the game while Gurjot Singh extended the lead in the 15th minute. In the 26th minute, Anil scored the third goal while Araijeet Singh again came forward in the 28th minute to move the team’s score forward. Yatanbir Singh struck in the 31st minute, Araijeet Singh 34th minute and Anil 36th minute to help the team log 7-0 score during the first half of the game.

In the second half, Gurjot Singh (40th minute), Araijeet Singh (50th minute), Yatanbir Singh (53rd minute) and Anil (60th minute) scored goals.

Tomorrow, the MRS Hockey Academy, Amritsar, will face the SGPC Hockey Academy, Faridkot, while the MDN School, Rohtak, will take on the Namdhari Hockey XI, Bhani Sahib.
