Hoshiarpur boy wins cross-country race

LUDHIANA: Jaspreet Singh of Hoshiarpur won the 5-km cross-country race, Dilpreet Singh of Taran Taran was second in the race and city lad Punjab Singh stood third during the fourth day of the 62th Annual Athletic Meet at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Ludhiana, December 13

Jaspreet Singh of Hoshiarpur won the 5-km cross-country race, Dilpreet Singh of Taran Taran was second in the race and city lad Punjab Singh stood third during the fourth day of the 62th Annual Athletic Meet at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

In the women 3-km race, Kuldeep Kaur of Taran Taran, Simarjit Kaur and Balwinder Kaur of Hoshiarpur were first, second and third, respectively.

Amandeep Kaur from the city was first in the triple-jump event and the gold for 4x100 meter event was also won by a Ludhiana participant.

In girl javelin throw event (under-17), Rupinder Kaur of Moga stood first and Isha Punia and Jaspreet Kaur of Muktsar Sahib were second and third, respectively.

In the under- 19 women 800-meter race, Gurpreet Kaur was first , Animika of Hoshiarpur was second and city’s Amanpreet Kaur Bhullar was third.

Manpreet Singh of Sangrur, Jaspreet Singh of Bathinda and Balwinder Singh of Taran Taran were first, second and third, respectively, in the men 800-meter race (under-19).
