Khalsa Warriors win kabaddi tourney

KHANNA: Khalsa Warriors won sixth annual ‘Baldev Singh Khattra Memorial Kabaddi Cup’ for the second time in a row by defeating SGPC team of Baba Zorawar Singh Baba Fateh Singh Kabaddi Academy, Fatehgarh Sahib by 38-24.

Khalsa Warriors won sixth annual ‘Baldev Singh Khattra Memorial Kabaddi Cup’ for the second time in a row by defeating SGPC team of Baba Zorawar Singh Baba Fateh Singh Kabaddi Academy, Fatehgarh Sahib by 38-24. The tournament was held in Khattra village. The winners took first prize of one lakh while runner up team won Rs 75,000.

The best raiders of the tournament were declared as Shota Gopi Manki and Gurpreet Singh Jat Laton Wala and best stoppers were named as Vadda Gopi Manki and Babbu Lasara. They were awarded with a motor cycle jointly in both categories.

Canadian High Commission Cristopher Gebins was chief guest of the tournament.

Before final match SGPC team defeated Shaheed Bhagat Singh Kabaddi Academy, Barnala by 40-14, Hoshiarpur Kabaddi club defeated Fatehgarh Sahib sports Kabaddi Academy, Madhopur by margin of 34-3.

In another match Miri Piri Sports Academy UK Bathinda beat Mata Nasib Kaur Kabaddi Academy, Farwahi by the difference of 32-27 and Khalsa Warriors Khatra beat Malooka Bazakhana Sports Academy by 33-30.

In semi final matches SGPC team defeated Miri Piri Sports Academy UK Bathinda by 38-22 and Khalsa Warriors Khatra beat Hoshiarpur Kabaddi club with 24-17 to reach finals.
