CHANDIGARH:Pratykash Goel of Kendriya Vidyalaya won the Open Under-13 category title with five and a half points in the Chandigarh State Chess Championship at St Xavier’s School, Sector 44, here today.

Chandigarh, April 23 

Pratykash Goel of Kendriya Vidyalaya won the Open Under-13 category title with five and a half points in the Chandigarh State Chess Championship at St Xavier’s School, Sector 44, here today.

Precious Bansal of Vivek High School, Sector 38, won the girls’ Under-13 title with two and a half points. Luckshiet of Saupins School, Sector 32, finished atop in the open Under-7 category with two points. Preet Ahluwalia of Bhavan Vidyalaya won the girls’ Under-7 title with three points. A total of 49 boys and girls participated in this championship.

Goel, Anhat Singh, Precious and Riya have been selected to represent the city in the Under-13 (open and girls) National Championship, while Luckshiet, Vardan Vivek Garg, Preet and Aradhya Gupta have been selected to play in the Under-7 Nationals. The National Championship is scheduled to be held at Pondicherry (Under-7) from September 18 to 26 and in Gujarat (Under-13) from July 22 to 30. —TNS
