A Lady''s Gift for a Female Hospital.

SOME time ago it was published that a Sind lady, Mrs Hiranand Menda, made an offer of Rs. 1,27,000 to the Collector of Sukkur for endowing a Female Hospital at Hyderabad. The donor, it was stated, laid down certain conditions along with the offer, but what these are has not been published. It is, however, announced that the conditions having been unacceptable, the offer has been withdrawn. In this connection we note that a correspondent suggests in Karachi paper that the visiting charges to the Lady Dufferin Hospital in Siakarpur are exorbitant and the poor cannot afford to pay the stipulated fees. It would therefore, be, most desirable that the authorities should reduce the visiting charges to Rs. 5 only. But we doubt if the bulk of the Indian female patients, who seek medical aid and who deserve to have it, can afford to pay even Rs. 5.
