AT a general meeting of the Association of Medical Women in India held at Bombay last week Lady Willingdon made an encouraging speech on the increasing capacity shown by medical women in India. "One of the greatest lessons we have learnt in the war," said her Excellency, "is the extent to which women can undertake with success the most diverse forms of public duty." She then referred to the work of the Women's Branch of War Relief Work which impressed upon her the versatility, ability and self-sacrifice which women could bring to bear upon a task which inspired them above all things. One of the war hospitals in Bombay, Her Excellency pointed out, was entirely staffed by women-including the surgical staff and this gave no small encouragement to the women doctors who found immense scope for their work in India. After the war, she urged the women workers should redouble their efforts and extend their work and there was no doubt that the substantial work already done would ensure their success in future.
