Commissions to Indian in the Army.

WE must welcome the announcement made by the Secretary of State in the House of Commons of the grant of King's Commissions to 9 Indians soldiers who have served in the field. Obviously this is the first practical Army reform adopted by the Government of India of the many that have been ceaselessly urged by the Congress during the last 30 years. It is also announced that a regular scheme of granting similar Commissions to Indians and of training them in a military college is under consideration. We hope that in adopting this reform the Government will not make any differentiation or create differences in pay, rank, status, &c.
