Delhi gold thread industry

THE Hon'ble Chief Commissioner, Delhi Province, is sending, at Government expense, two operatives of Delhi gold thread industry to the Government Central Weavery, Lahore, to study the new machinery for gold thread wire drawing and tinsel work. They have been selected with the assistance of the Punjab Chamber of Commerce, and will have the new appliances explained to them by the Textiles Assistant to the Director of Agriculture and Industries, Punjab. The gold wire thread industry of Delhi was at one time a highly prosperous and paying industry and is certainly one of those that deserve every encouragement with a view to prevent their decay or extinction, and the Delhi Government are to be congratulated on the step taken which we trust is an indication of further and more substantial help by Government.
