Dr. Nair and Detectives.

Dr. T.M. Nair while speaking at the Coimbatore District conference the other day, as president, made a humorous reference to the presence of a high Government official busy taking notes, and said that he like the rest of public men in India was quite used to detectives and their ways. " I remember an occasion which happened some years ago," said he, "When I was travelling to a certain part of the country, and while in the train I became aware that I was being watched by a detective. The detectives are not clever people. On coming to a station where I had to change trains I went to the detective and said you are paid by Government to look after me. You might look after my luggage as well. (Laughter). The detective was quite good-humoured and looked after my luggage, while I went to find out a berth for me."
