WE have a new complaint brought against the educational environments it India, viz., that students learn habits of life which are criticised by some as luxuries and approved by others who regard them as signs of a higher standard of life. In all well-equipped schools of the present day students learn to sit on benches instead of on mats, use tables or desks, dress neatly, be clean, play modern games, eat more wholesome food and enjoy a few innocent luxuries. Which of these constitutes "luxury" and offend "simple life," depends upon localities and persons.
